Renault Dauphine

Manufactured in France from 1956-1867, the Renault Dauphine was fashioned to slot in with the other European economy class vehicles of the day (think: VW Beetle, Fiat 500).

So, why didn’t the Dauphine endure like the rest of its peers? Well, for starters, it was a piece of junk. Though the vehicle was slow and cheaply designed, the Dauphine still managed to sell over two million units, it failed to meet U.S. consumer demands and not-so-quickly slipped in to obscurity.
