Shelby 1000

While it’s technically a modified production car, the Shelby 1000 is still incredibly powerful, with a peak output of 1,000 horsepower (hence the name) and 750 lb.-ft. of torque. The thing is based on the 2011 or 2012 Super Snake, a car that’s already ridiculously fast and makes Corvette owners feel a jealous rage.

Shelby had to reengineer the car to handle all of that power, making it more than a light modification job to only the powerplant. Apparently, the whole thing was Carrol Shelby’s idea. The man himself wasn’t that impressed with the Super Snake, because an 800-horsepower Mustang is just boring, so he started asking when the team would develop a car with 1,000 horsepower. The rest is history.
