Chevrolet Astro III Concept


Sometimes it’s like designers and engineers are hiding a crystal ball under their desks. They take the thing out and polish it every once in a while, giving everyone a glimpse of technology that’s way far off. At the time people think concepts like the Chevrolet Astro III are the product of lunacy, but in these modern times we can see it was really genius.

Sure, it looks like an airplane with the wings and tail chopped off, and it’s powered by a gas turbine. Beyond that, it had drive-by-wire steering and rearview mirrors that were actually closed-circuit televisions, which is kind of similar to all the cameras that are mounted all over modern cars.
