Thief-Magnets: 9 2014 Model Cars Voted Most Likely to Get Stolen
It’s the American dream: nice house with a brand-new shiny car sitting in the driveway. That’s what everyone strives for. However, if you purchased one of these brand new cars last year, there’s a decent chance you came out one morning to an empty drive, mindlessly pressing the panic alarm on your key fob in hopes that it had just wandered down the street.
9. 2014 Ford Focus
The Ford Focus is a great little car to get you from point A to B in moderate comfort, and since the 2010 redesign, moderate style as well as great gas mileage. But if you were one of 14 people last year to have yours stolen, you were probably riding the bus for a while.
8. 2014 Nissan Altima
Personally, I forget about the Nissan Altima all the time, because it really isn’t a major player in the mid-size sedan segment. However, when it was redesigned in 2013, Nissan did a lot to increase its style and appeal, so now it is rather handsome looking. Unfortunately, this facelift also caught the eyes of car thieves, as they stole 57 last year.
7. 2014 Toyota Corolla
Lucky number seven on this list is Toyota’s Corolla. The Corolla was redesigned after a long and boring six years, which did give the car more drama and more youthful appeal. The previous generation was more suited for regional salespeople and grandmothers. Unfortunately when Toyota upped the overall appeal of the Corolla, they also made it more appealing to steal. Last year, 82 2014 Toyota Corollas were stolen.
