Is that Lightning McQueen out there on the track? Or just the new Porsche Taycan Turbo S?

“I am speed!”

We already knew the new Taycan was going to be an impressive vehicle. It’s Porsche’s first attempt at an all-electric sportscar. Frankly, it looks to be one helluva debut effort. The company claimed pretty early on that the regular Taycan could reach top speeds of 162 mph and go from 0-to-60 mph is three seconds flat. Between then and now, Porsche lifted the veil on the Taycan Turbo S — the most expensive version of their new masterpiece. And baby, it can move!

Car & Driver got their hands on the Taycan Turbo S and put it to the test. They measured the car’s 0-to-60 time at a blistering 2.4 seconds. It also clocked a quarter-mile time 10.5 seconds, reaching 135 mph.

“Only the Porsche 918 Spyder and the Lamborghini Huracán Performante beat it to 60 mph in our testing,” said reviewer Connor Hoffman.

For those keeping score, that’s just a hair faster than any of the Tesla models. The two companies have been sparring lately over track times.

If you crave speed, appreciate the luxurious nature of a Porsche, and want to embrace the electric future, the Taycan Turbo S just might be the car for you. Just make sure you have an extra $200,000 laying around, because this beauty doesn’t come cheap.
