When the 1977 movie left the theatres, the car was packed away in a storage space and forgotten. When rent on the storage space became delinquent, the car and other contents were auctioned off. Since then, the Bond submarine car has passed through several owners. After recently going up for auction again, it landed in the possession of Elon Musk, the founder of Tesla Motors and other innovative enterprises. He’s planning to have a Tesla Model S powertrain installed in it. From there, who knows what the electric car innovator might come up with? We may be seeing submersible cars in local automotive showrooms yet!
